Certificate II in IT

The Certificate II in IT course offered at Canning College provides general computing and employment skills that enable participation in an information technology environment in any industry.

Some examples of the employment skills are:

• solving organisational problems by applying technology
• selecting appropriate software and file formats for an activity
• planning and organising the selection and location of hardware
• selecting, installing and using computer software and hardware
• configuring the operating system to suit the working environment
• identifying work to be completed and prioritising tasks
• reading and writing basic workplace documents and technical manuals

Participants will also develop significant skills in word processing, spreadsheets, internet, email, editing digital images, databases and operating systems using Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2010.

Certificate II in Information Technology

Students who successfully complete the course and can demonstrate the associated competences via the ongoing assessments will be awarded a Certificate II in IT. This qualification is endorsed by the Training Accreditation Council and is recognised Australia-wide by both training institutions and industry. The qualification code is ICA20105.

4 hrs per week

Age prerequisite: Students need to be at least 17 years of age as of the 1 January of the current year.

Subjects prerequisite: Certificate I in IT (or equivalent).

Commences the week beginning 13 Feb 2012 and concludes the week beginning 26 Nov 2012
